Forty teachers from across Mississippi recently participated in a two-week heritage workshop presented by the Delta Center for Culture and Learning at Delta State University.  <\/font><\/p>\n

 <\/div>\n
The workshop entitled “The Three R’s of the Mississippi Delta:  Roads, Rivers and Railways”  was funded by the Mississippi Geographic Alliance, and was designed to help teachers integrate geography into their curriculum.  <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Participants rode on the Illinois Central railroad and a JanTran towboat, toured numerous museums, and met with experts who talked about Highway 69, the Delta’s ancient forests, flood control, and the ethnic heritage of the region.  <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Dr. Mark Bonta served as the geography instructor, and Lee Aylward and Luther Brown coordinated the experiences.  <\/span><\/div>\n
