To hear Pablo Cruise on the record is one thing\, but to experience the band live is an exhilarating event! In 1975\, Pablo Cruise released its first A&M album simply entitled Pablo Cruise. The album cover was shot in the tropical gardens of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and it featured a huge gorilla standing front and center. The band\, David Jenkins (guitars\, vocals)\, Cory Lerios (keyboards\, vocals)\, Bud Cockerel (bass\, vocals) and Steve Price (drums\, percussion) were nowhere in sight. At that point there was a bit of a mystique surrounding Pablo Cruise\, and when asked what Pablo Cruise meant\, the well-rehearsed answer went something like this: “Pablo”\, represents an honest\, real\, down to earth individual\, and “Cruise” depicts his fun loving\, easy going attitude towards life: In essence that’s what Pablo Cruise music is all about. \nFrom 1975 to 1985 the band toured the United States\, Canada and Japan extensively\, welcoming fans to “Climb Aboard The Good Ship Pablo Cruise.” Reaching the top 10 with mega hits like “Whatcha Gonna Do When She Says Goodbye?” and “Love Will Find A Way\,” and several other top 20’s\, the band went on to sell several million albums and singles collectively and established themselves as well respected writers and performers within the industry. They appeared on numerous TV shows\, including Dick Clark’s American Bandstand\, The Merv Griffin Show\, The Dinah Shore Hour and in 1979 they broke Elvis Presley’s attendance record at the Sahara Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe\, Nevada\, becoming the first rock band to play a casino showroom. They also became the first rock band to grace the stage at the Grand Ole Opry\, but by 1985 after completing several national tours and releasing 7 studio albums in all\, the band decided to take a hiatus……one that lasted nearly 20 years. \nFast forward 20 years–in 2005 a reunited Pablo Cruise picked up where they left off and today the band performs all over the U.S. and Canada and they’re enjoying it more than ever. Since getting back together\, they have released two live CD’s and a DVD all through Sony Music documenting their exceptional live shows. “One of the great things about playing shows after all these years is that the core band\, David\, Steve and myself are still here and lovin’ it\,” says Cory! “Going out and playing shows these days gives us the opportunity to not only pay tribute to our timeless repertoire\, it gives us a chance to see old friends and fans from back in the day as well as gaining a whole new audience!” Today Pablo Cruise is bringing more energy and excitement to the stage than ever before and with the addition of Larry Antonino and Robbie Wyckoff\, the band has never sounded better.

DESCRIPTION:DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY’S GALLERY PRESENTS THE EXHIBITION WILLIAM RULLER: ALL THAT IS SOLID MELTS INTO AIR \nDelta State University’s Art Department invites the public to the opening of its new exhibition William Ruller: All That is Solid Melts into Air. Ruller who was born in Gloversville\, NY explains that “the abandoned mills and tanneries of my youth and the dilapidated areas of metropolitan and rural sites\, with its rust grey tones inform the visual and aesthetic language present in my work. These residual sites serve as the foundation for the work\, which allows for a reinterpretation of the space into abstracted images.” \nRuller received a B.A. in painting and ceramics from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in 2007. Following his undergraduate degree\, Ruller moved to Oregon where he worked as a production potter and ceramics instructor. In 2014 he received is MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Ruller has been exhibited throughout Europe and the United States in numerous group and solo exhibitions. His paintings have been featured in Friend of the Artist\, Whitewall Magazine\, New American Paintings\, and Studio Visit Magazine Issues. His work is in private and public collections such as Hyatt Hotel Corporation\, Savannah College of Art and Design\, and Museo Riso. \nWilliam Ruller: All that is Solid Melts into Air will be on view in the gallery from November 2 to December 7. A reception at which light refreshments will be served will be held on November 2 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm to mark the opening of the exhibition. A presentation by the artist via Zoom is scheduled for 4:00 pm that day. The public may join the presentation via Zoom or view it in the gallery surrounded by his work. \nThe gallery is open Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The gallery is closed on weekends\, holidays\, and during semester breaks. To Sharon\, he was simply Dad. Armstrong’s wholesome\, non-threatening image preserved his singular career as a black performer with unfettered access to a white man’s world. Yet he was more than a caricature. In private\, he held tightly to the things he loved. DESCRIPTION:The Bologna Performing Arts Center will host a 9:30am and an 11:30am showing of A Christmas Carol as part of their School-Time Matinee Series on Wednesday\, November 29. Tickets are $7 each and can be purchased through the BPAC Arts Education office at 662-846-4844. \nBased upon the famous classic by Charles Dickens\, A Christmas Carol is a heartwarming story of the transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge from a greedy\, heartless miser to a generous\, loving man. When the play opens\, Scrooge is in his counting house in London. He is a “squeezing\, wrenching\, grasping\, scraping\, clutching\, covetous old sinner!” Three ghostly visits – from the ghosts of Christmas past\, present\, and future – leave an indelible impression on Ebenezer. \nFilled with love and the true spirit of the Christmas season\, he begins to change his selfish ways and open his heart to those around him. Students will delight in this classic tale of Scrooge\, the ghosts\, Bob Cratchit\, and Tiny Tim. Virginia Repertory Theatre brings all the characters to life on stage in this lively and heartwarming musical performance. Watch Mr. Scrooge have a change of heart from stone to gold as he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas. All the joy\, sentiment and meaning are here\, without being too scary for young audiences.

DESCRIPTION:Delta State University Host “Planned Giving” Seminar November 30\nDavid Gladden\, Chief Financial Officer and Interim Vice President for Advancement\, at Delta State University (DSU)\, announced the University will host a “planned giving” seminar. The seminar will explore ways to make planned gifts to the University through the Quadrangle Society. Scheduled for November 30 5:30 pm at the Hugh Ellis Walker Alumni House on the DSU campus\, the seminar will provide information by community experts on developing planned charitable strategies. The seminar is free to the public.\nThe Quadrangle Oak Society was established to recognize alumni and friends of the University who have either funded or planned a deferred gift\, such as a bequest or a life income plan. Many people believe the planned giving is only for the very rich. “It doesn’t have to be a large amount and our donations help students who might otherwise be unable to have a college education\,” said Vicki Fioranelli\, Quadrangle Oak Society member.” “Many of us may not be able to be large donors during our life time but why not designate a portion of our wealth after our death?”. She added\, “I encourage others to join me.”\nDelta State University is promoting the Quadrangle Oak Society as part of its Centennial Campaign.
