SUMMARY:Children’s Show – Beyond the Sun: In search of a new Earth
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a live star show where you will learn about the science of solar eclipses and how to safely view the upcoming partial solar eclipse on Saturday October 14. We will screen the animated children’s film ‘Beyond the Sun: In search of a new Earth’ and observe the Sun with a solar telescope following the show (if weather permits). Each ticket purchase comes with one pair of eclipse glasses. \nBeyond the Sun: In search of a new Earth – Celeste is a little girl who wants to explore the Universe\, find new Earths and learn how to find exoplanets. While fighting off sleep in her room by reading a book on astronomy\, she receives an unexpected visit from Moon. Together\, they enjoy a journey through the Universe to discover what exoplanets are and how they can be detected. They observe rogue planets\, oceanic worlds and super-Earths. Moon tells her about exoplanet hunters\, who observe the sky in search of planets like Earth. Many adventures are yet to come. But first\, she needs some rest. Celeste drops off to sleep waiting for the next visit of Moon. \nTicket Pricing\nAdults: $5.00\nChildren: $3.00 (under the age of 12 who require a seat)\nOkra Card: $3.00 (Students\, faculty and staff with valid DSU ID)\nTickets sold at the door. SUMMARY:Solar Superstorms + Solar Observing
DESCRIPTION:SolarShperstorms.png\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a live star show where you will learn about the science of solar eclipses and how to safely view the upcoming partial solar eclipse on Saturday October 14. We will screen the planetarium film ‘Solar Superstorms’ and observe the Sun with a solar telescope following the show (if weather permits). Each ticket purchase comes with one pair of eclipse glasses. \nSolar Superstorms: A fury is building on the surface of the Sun – high-velocity jets\, a fiery tsunami wave that reaches 100\,000 kilometers high\, rising loops of electrified gas. What’s driving these strange phenomena? How will they affect planet Earth? Find the answers as we venture into the seething interior of our star. Solar Superstorms is a major new production that takes viewers into the tangle of magnetic fields and superhot plasma that vent the Sun’s rage in dramatic flares\, violent solar tornadoes\, and the largest eruptions in the solar system: Coronal Mass Ejections. The show features one of the most intensive efforts ever made to visualize the inner workings of the sun. Narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch. \nTicket Pricing\nAdults: $5.00\nChildren: $3.00 (under the age of 12 who require a seat)\nOkra Card: $3.00 (Students\, faculty and staff with valid DSU ID)\nTickets sold at the door.
