Ray<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Biographical Information:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Milburn Crowe\u2019s parents settled in Mound Bayou, Mississippi as one of the pioneer families that wanted to start a community where freed slaves could own land and elect black officials. After growing up in Mound Bayou, Crowe moved to Chicago and remained there until he retired and moved back to Mound Bayou. He was very involved in organizations that preserve and support black history. These organizations are the historic Mound Bayou Foundation and the Mississippi Historical Society. Beyond this he served as the Vice Chair of the Southeast Regional African American Preservation Alliance and as a Board member for the Mississippi Historical Society. Mr. Crowe was honored with the Mississippi Humanities Council Achievement Award.
