Dis An\u2019 Dat Column August 2, 1970<\/p>\n<p><em>Biographical\/Historical Sketch:<\/em><br \/>\nFlorence Sillers Ogden (1897-1972), daughter of Walter Sillers, Sr., wrote the column \u201cDis \u2018n\u2019<br \/>\nDat\u201d for the Delta Star in Greenville and the Clarion Ledger, in which she not only related local<br \/>\nsocial news but also commented on political, economic, and social issues. She was also active in<br \/>\nthe Mississippi Delta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Women for<br \/>\nConstitutional Government. Her correspondence reflects her interest in politics, agricultural and<br \/>\ngovernmental affairs, participation in the D.A.R., and social activities, as well as response to her<br \/>\ncolumns.<\/p>\n<p><em>Scope and Content:<\/em><br \/>\nThis collection consists of clippings collected by Florence Sillers Ogden, from various<br \/>\nnewspapers, and also copies and drafts of her column Dis \u2018n\u2019 Dat.
