The Boyd-Walters-Bobo Family Papers contains papers from sisters Dr. Eleanor
\nBoyd Walters and Ruth Boyd Bobo.<\/p>\n

Eleanor Walters was born in Gunnison, Mississippi in 1914. She graduated from
\nGunnison High School in 1930. Went to Delta State University and received a Bachelor
\nof Science in Education in 1934. She went on to receive her Masters of Arts Degree from
\nDrake University in 1939 and then to Columbia University to receive her Doctor of
\nEducation. Walters was a mathematics professor at Delta State University and went on to
\nbecome Chair of the department. She received many awards and was a member to several
\noriginations such as the American Association for University Women. Walters, after
\nretirement, in she was honored by Delta State University and a building on the campus
\nwas named for her. She was on the Delta State University Committee for the 75th
\nanniversary of Delta State University.<\/p>\n

Ruth Walters graduated from Gunnison High School in 1936. She started out as a
\nschool teacher. She later retired from teaching so she could hunt with her husband, Jim
\nEd Bobo. She was a skilled turkey hunter and was second in command of the Farm
\nBureau Federation Woman\u2019s Committee. Also included in this collection are clippings
\nand information from the political career of Jim Ed Bobo, who served as a Bolivar
\nCounty Supervisor for many years.<\/p>\n
