column_border_width=&#8221;none&#8221; column_border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;][vc_column_text]\n<h1>Impact on P-12 Learning and Indicators of Teaching Effectiveness<\/h1>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\n<h2>(Component R4.1)<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=&#8221;No Line&#8221;][vc_column_text]<strong>Impact on P-12 Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DSU undergraduate and alternate route teacher education program completers who began working as a teacher in a Mississippi public school after graduation are matched to the results of the Mississippi Department of Education\u2019s 18 statewide assessments for P-12 students to document completers\u2019 impact on P-12 student learning. The statewide assessments consist of Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP) for Grades 3-8 in English, Math and Science and High School End of Course Exams for Algebra I, US History, Biology and English II.<\/p>\n<p>14 institutions of higher learning that comprise the Mississippi Education Preparation Providers (Statewide EPP) provided data to produce comparison data; statewide data from the Mississippi Public School System were also used.<\/p>\n<p>For the academic year (AY) 2020, the United States Department of Education waived statewide assessment, accountability, and reporting requirements in the Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA) due to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19).<\/p>\n<p>The data are disaggregated by traditional versus alternate route teacher education programs and listed in the link below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/MSDocs\/Teacher Education\/Measure-1-Impact-on-Student-Learning-Initial-Programs-2026.pdf.pdf\">Impact on Student Learning 2019 &#8211; Present<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Due to COVID 19, the MDE suspended stated testing in 2020. Therefore there are no state assessment results for the 2019-2020 academic year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Indicators of Teaching Effectiveness<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Delta State University uses multiple measures to determine teacher effectiveness. Undergraduate students complete the Impact on Student Learning (ISL) assignment and Teacher Intern Assessment Instrument that allows the EPP to determine if candidates are well prepared to enter the profession in terms of lesson planning, student understanding, the learning environment, and professional responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, DSU partnered with multiple K-12 districts and EPP graduates to conduct Case Studies to determine the effectiveness of its graduates in the field. These have continued in the format of monitoring graduates\u2019 performance on the Professional Growth Rubric (PGR), the statewide instrument used by principals to observe and evaluate teachers in the classroom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indicators of Teaching Effectiveness:<\/strong><br \/>\nFall 2020 &#8211;
