Delta State University has over 100 registered Student Organizations; there is something for everyone here at DSU! Student Organizations cover a wide range of topics and interest areas, including but not limited to: academic, political, racial/ethnic, religious, social fraternities and sororities, sports and leisure, and honor societies.

The Office of Student Life recognizes these organizations with the University through an annual registration process, starting August 1st. African American Student Council – The purpose of this organization is to provide an atmosphere whereby students will be able to engage in social activities that are designed to increase their knowledge about the community & its culture.

Delta Diplomats – A select group of student recruiters who assist the university with the recruiting of prospective students.

Delta StatementThe Delta Statement is a student-run and student-edited newspaper at Delta State University. It serves the student readership by reporting on news involving the campus and surrounding community. The Delta Statement is published every Thursday during the fall and spring semesters and is distributed free of charge, campus wide.

Delta Volunteers – The purpose of this organization is to develop volunteer opportunities involving our community.

Diamond Girls – Diamond Girls are an integral part of the Delta State University Baseball team. This group of young women assist with gate commissions, retrieve foul balls, return bats for both home and visiting teams, supply umpires with baseballs, and assist in numerous other tasks that help the home games run smoothly. Girls are also assigned a ‘bat buddy’ from the Baseball team and are to support their buddy throughout the season with gifts and encouragement.

Delta State University Precision Flight Team – The purpose of this organization is to help promote fellowship & friendship among Delta State University students, faculty & staff involved in Aviation & to provide fund raising & social events.

Grid Iron Girls – Grid Iron Girls are an integral part of the Delta State University Football team. This group of young women assist with the Kidz Korner at home football games, work home and visitor sidelines, assist in the concessions, help with gate commissions, and help in various other tasks that help the home games run smoothly. Each girl is assigned a ‘football friend’ from the Football team and they are to support their football fellow throughout the season with gifts and encouragement.

International Student Association – An organization dedicated to strengthening international relations through cultural, social, educational & professional activities.

MS Early Childhood Association (MECA) – The purpose of this organization is to work for the best opportunities for young children and their families through providing a means for persons interested in young children to work together; increasing knowledge and understanding of members through a variety of educational means; bringing relevant issues about the needs of young children to the attention of pre-service teachers; working to improve the health & educational standards for group care of children & to improve the quality of life for them; cooperating with agencies & organizations working for the best interest of young children; and encouraging the development of total associations to support these objectives.

Pageant Board – The purpose of this organization is to plan & produce the Delta State University Most Beautiful Pageant & the Miss Delta State University Pageant.

Residence Hall Councils – A group of residence hall students who meet to plan programming & handle minor disciplinary matters to help enhance the residence hall community experience.

Social Work Club – The purpose of this organization is to achieve a better understanding of social work practices, to learn more about social work & social work issues & promote service to the community.

Union Program Council – The purpose of this organization is to provide campus entertainment & opportunities for student involvement in programming. More info

UMADD – The purpose of this organization is to educate students at Delta State University about the dangers of drinking while driving and under-aged drinking.

Water Environment Federation – The purpose of this organization is to promote student interest in the environment & to provide an avenue for the exchange of information & ideas between students & members of both the MS Water Environment Association & the Water Environment Federation.

Wildlife Society – The purpose of this organization is to provide opportunities of gathering & interaction to anyone interested in any aspect of wildlife; provide opportunities for students to gain experience in the various aspects of wildlife, natural resource management, and stewardship; and promote proper stewardship of natural resources.


Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) – The world’s largest Honor Society exclusively serves premedical education, with a membership exceeding 124,000. The mission of AED is to stimulate excellence in premedical education, to promote communication between students and educators, and to benefit health organizations, charities and the community. AED is both an Honor Society and a service organization. Membership in AED is offered to students recognized to have superior scholastic achievement who have completed at least three semesters of premedical work in college. Activities include regular meetings, where topics of interest are presented by students, faculty members, and health professionals. AED publishes and newsletter and a journal, The Scalpel. Alpha Iota Mu – The purpose of this organization is to recognize outstanding academic achievement in the field of information systems; provide a forum for academic, professional, and social development; promote high ethical standards; and encourage the growth & integrity of the information systems profession.

Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta) – BBB is an honor society for students of the biological sciences. Since its founding in 1922, more than 175,000 persons have been accepted into lifetime membership, and more than 430 chapters have been established. Membership in Tri-Beta is offered to students who have completed at least three semesters of college coursework including at least three courses in biology with average grades of B or above. The society publishes a journal, BIOS, with articles of interest to biologists and society news. Delta State University maintains a local chapter of the society. Delta Mu Delta – The purpose of this organization is to encourage higher scholarship & to recognize & reward scholastic achievement in business administration programs.

Eta Mu Sigma – The purpose of this organization is to recognize & honor those individuals in the field of Aviation who through scholarship integrity & outstanding achievement have been a credit to their program.

Kappa Delta Pi – This organization is an international honor society in Education that elects those to membership who exhibits the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards & promise in teaching & allied professions. It encourages improvement & distinction in achievement & contributes to education.

Kappa Pi – The purpose of this organization is to form bodies of representative students who will, by their influence and their artistic interests, uphold the highest ideals of a liberal education; to provide a means whereby students with artistic commitment meet for the purpose of informal study & entertainment; to raise the standards of productive artistic work among the students in the colleges & universities; to furnish the highest reward for conscientious effort in furthering the best interest of art in the broadest sense of the term, by election to membership in the Fraternity, based upon such meritorious work.

Mu Phi Epsilon – The purpose of this organization is for the advancement of music throughout the world, the promotion of musicianship & scholarship, loyalty to the Alma Mater & the development of a true bond of friendship.

Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) – The purpose of this organization is to recognize those who have attained a high standard of efficiency in collegiate activities and to inspire others to strive for conspicuous attainments along similar lines;  to bring together the most representative students in all phases of collegiate life and thus to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and intercollegiate interest;  to bring together members of the faculty and student body of the institution, as well as other Omicron Delta Kappa members, on a basis of mutual interest, understanding, and helpfulness.

Order of Omega – Order of Omega is a leadership honor society for members of Fraternity & Sorority organizations. Order of Omega recognizes juniors and seniors who have exemplified high standards in the areas of scholarship, leadership, involvement within their respective organization and within the Fraternity/Sorority, campus, and local community. Members are selected from the top 3% of students at each institution. To date, over 500 chapters have been chartered throughout North America, each sharing the common goal of recognizing the many outstanding student leaders at their institution.

Phi Alpha – The Eta Xi Chapter of Phi Alpha Honor Society, a national honor society in social work, was chartered on the Delta campus in 1998.  The purpose of the society is to advance excellence in social work practice and to encourage, stimulate, and maintain scholarship, particularly in social work.

Phi Eta Sigma – The purpose of this organization is to promote a higher standard of learning & to encourage high scholastic attainment among the freshmen in our institutions of higher learning.

Pi Gamma Mu – The purpose of this organization is to encourage excellence in the social sciences among undergraduate and graduate students. This organization not only gives recognition to good scholarship, but actively promotes is all year long by enriching activities, a lectureship program, and student-faculty fellowship.

Sigma Delta Pi – The purpose of this organization is to promote the appreciation of the culture of Latin America and of Spain, and to foster better understanding of the contribution Spanish-speaking people have made to our American heritage.

Sigma Theta Tau (STTI) – This International Honor Society is the only international nursing honor society worldwide, is a global community of nurse leaders with members belonging to 475 chapters who live in 90 countries. Through this network, members lead in using knowledge, scholarship, service and learning to improve the health of the world’s people. The STTI mission is to support the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide. DSU hosts the PI Xi Chapter of STTI.


Chamber Singers – The Chamber Singers is a highly select choir of 18 voices dedicated to the highest standards of preparation and performance. They perform several times throughout the school year, both on campus and around the region. Membership is by audition.

Delta Belles – The Delta Belles dance team is a select group of female students who perform at various athletic and sporting events. Membership is by audition.

Delta Chorale – Delta Chorale is the premier large choral ensemble at Delta State University. This 40-45 voice choir is comprised of students from a variety of academic majors across campus. They present several major concerts throughout the year and tour annually. Membership is by audition.

Delta Players – Delta Players consists of performers and crew members dedicated to presenting a variety of theatrical genres for Delta State University.

Delta Singers – Delta Singers is open to all singers without an audition. They perform one major concert each semester. This choir introduces singers to a wide range of repertoire, placing emphasis on developing sight reading and performance skills and increasing musical understanding.

Delta State Cheerleaders – Delta State’s Coed Squad (Green Squad) is a student activity in the Division of Student Affairs.  The Coed Squad usually consists of up to 20 members; these members are the squad members selected at the spring tryout process, or throughout the summer.

Delta State Marching Band – The Marching Statesmen, along with the Delta Belles and the Color Guard, performs for home football games and marching band festivals throughout the state.


Accounting Honor Society – This organization supports students & their faculty to promote professional development for undergraduates majoring in Accounting.

Alpha Eta Rho – The purpose of this organization is to actively associate interested students of Aviation with leaders and executives in the industry.

American Chemical Society – This organization supports students & their faculty to promote professional development, mentoring & peer support mechanisms for undergraduates majoring in the chemical society.

Career Ambassadors – Ambassadors are selected each semester and volunteer and network with potential employers. They promote career building and helpful services for students looking to further their career on-campus and off.

Community Development Student Organization – The purpose of this organization is to promote excellence, leadership, unity and organization to community development graduate students, faculty, and professionals; increase interpersonal relationships between CD graduate students, faculty and professionals; providing an avenue for discussion, innovation, entrepreneurship, camaraderie and experience by encouraging interaction with local communities while in the confines of academia; and increase national recognition for university community development programs & promote community development as a growing & much needed career field.

Criminal Justice Association – The purpose of this organization is to promote interest in the Criminal Justice field & give a better understanding of the Criminal Justice field.

Delta Reading Council – An affiliate of the International Reading Association, the Delta Reading Council is an organization dedicated to assisting local area educators in their pursuit of knowledge that will be helpful in the area of reading instruction. The Delta Reading Council meets once each semester.  Student members may attend the state and/or international conference each school year.

DSU Mississippi Association for Middle Level Education (MAMLE) – DSU Mississippi for Middle Level Education is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to improving education for students who are in grades 5-8.  Student members may attend the state conference each Spring.

DSU Mississippi Early Childhood Association – (MECA) Mississippi Early Childhood Association is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to improving the quality of care and education of young children in Mississippi.  DSU/MECA is an affiliate group. The membership consists of persons concerned about:

  1. Providing opportunity for professional growth as an early childhood educator.
  2. Activating constructive legislation to safeguard the welfare and enhance the educational opportunities of our youngest children.
  3. Utilizing talents of parents, teachers, administrators, social workers, medical personnel, and other persons interested in young children.

Meetings are held on a regular basis each semester.  Student members may attend the state conference each fall.

Mathematical Association of America (MAA) – The purpose of this organization is to encourage students to continue study in the mathematical sciences and consider a career and to provide opportunities to meet with other Math students & encourage participation in student activities.

MS Professional Educators (MPE) – The purpose of the organization is to foster high ideals of the education professions; promote interest in education; promote the welfare of students & educators; provide opportunities for pre-service teachers to work cooperatively in their curriculum area; increase knowledge & understanding of pre-service teachers through a variety of educational opportunities; bring relevant issues about the needs of students to the attention of pre-service teachers; and cooperate with agencies & organizations working for the best interest of students.

Psi Chi – Better known as the Psychology Club is open for the general enlightenment & education of members and to bring these members together to share common interests of Psychology and similar disciplines.

National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) – DSU hosts the Sigma Alpha Eta Chapter of NSSLHA. This organizations is part of the national organization for students interested in studying communication sciences and disorders. NSSLHA was founded in 1972 and is the only official national student association recognized by the American Language Hearing Association (ASHA). NSSLHA has chapters at more than 300 colleges and universities with approximately 13,000 members nationwide.

Student Alumni Association (SAA)  – The purpose of this organization is to develop leadership among future alumni.

Student Association of Family & Consumer Sciences – This organization was established so the FCS majors can contribute fully to the growth & promotion of Family & Consumer Sciences & add to their own professional growth.

Student Nurses Association (SNA) – The purpose of this organization is to foster communication among the members of the nursing student body & between the nursing student body & faculty; to promote a better understanding of the professional nursing program on campus & in the community; and to promote & encourage participation in community affairs & activities which promote improved health care.

Women in Aviation /Delta 22s – The purpose of this organization is to champion women’s professional growth and enrichment in the aviation fields by providing opportunities for sharing information and networking, education, fostering a sense of community & increasing public awareness of women in the industry.


Agora – The purpose of this organization is to promote political awareness, encourage lively, rational and logical political discussions and sponsor public service projects, such as guest speakers, field trips, volunteer activities and related areas.

College Republicans – The purpose of this organization is to make known and promote the principles of the Republican Party among the students at Delta State University and the community.

Student Government Association (SGA) – The purpose of this organization is to promote unity & welfare of the entire student body, provide a high standard of responsibility in the interests of our student life & to insure goodwill among students, faculty, staff & administration.

The SGA offer three branches to get involved:

  1. Executive Cabinet and Committees
  2. Student Court
  3. Student Senate

Young Democrats – The purpose of this organization is to be an educational club, not primarily a campaign organization, but a concerned group who feel that most of the present unrest among young people can be channeled to constructive means. This organization seeks political awareness for all groups; seek a meaningful dialogue for young people and an opportunity for young people to take an active interest in popular government; and to discover and discuss the means by which our political system works.


Alpha Omega Ministries – The Alpha Omega Ministries is an International Ministry of Faith. The online-community is welcome to all.

Baptist Student Union (BSU) – The purpose of this organization is to help you deepen your faith in God; find support from others in the living of your Faith; join with others in the study of the Scriptures; use your gifts In ministering to others; have a meaningful worship experience; help get the “bigger picture of the world” from a Christian perspective; and develop friendships that become lasting relationships.

Campus Crusade for Christ – The purpose of this organization is to provide regular opportunities to study & discuss the Bible, worship & pray, all in a group setting, which also provides opportunities for fellowship, encouragement and spiritual development among members.

Canterbury Campus Ministry – The Episcopal campus ministry at Delta State meets weekly at Calvary Episcopal Church. The purpose of this organization is to walk in love as Christ loved us and to share each others joys and burdens.

Catholic Student Association (CSA) – CSA is an organization that provides students an opportunity to experience Christ in service, social, and spiritual settings. We welcome all students to attend any of our events. We meet every Monday evening at 6:30 at the Parish Life Center behind Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. We attend retreats, have bible studies, explore Catholic teachings, and provide service to our community. Come and join us anytime! Chi Alpha – Do you sometimes hate those first meetings with people? You know the kind that university life seems to be packed with: Hey. How are you? What’s your major? What dorm do you live in? Over and over again. When really we all just want to be able to kick back and be comfortable with each other. But sometimes you gotta go through the awkward to get to the comfortable. So: we’re Chi Alpha. We’re great, thanks for asking! We don’t have a major – although we are on university campuses all over the world. We’re a network of Christian ministries that look a little bit different on every campus – but here’s what you’re always sure to find: college-age men and women who are at once wrestling to become who they are (through school or work or life experience), and to connect with God. You’ll probably find people who are in all kinds of stages of both pursuits: self-discovery and God-discovery.

Christian Student Center (CSC) – The Christian Student Center is an organization for DSU students. Located at 201 N. Fourth Street, Cleveland, MS, 38733, the CSC is a place where you can fellowship with other Christian students. As sponsored by Cleveland Church of Christ, the Center is open to all Christian students.

God’s Anointed Voices (GAV) – The purpose of this organization is to help students feel at home while showing them that things in life with God can be positive & successful; to encourage the students to stay focused on their goals in life & with God; and to teach students the history & the meaning of the Holy Bible.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) – DSU FCA is an organization built to help equip, empower and encourage our student-athletes to make a difference with Christ.

Joy Fellowship – The Joy Fellowship is a growing student church, led by God’s Spirit, with worshipers who have a hunger and thirst for God’s Word, and a love for the lost and hurting. We are sponsored by First Assembly of God in Cleveland.

Latter Day Saints Student Organization (LDSSA) – The purpose of this organization is to encourage & support members of LDSSA in achieving their academic goals & maintaining a balanced life while on campus; encourage members of LDSSA to become an influence for god by participating in activities & service on campus & in the community; provide students with meaningful service opportunities & social & religious activities that are consistent with LDSSA standards; and promote traditional moral values.

Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) – The purpose of this organization is to provide students with opportunities to study the good news of Jesus Christ in large group Bible studies, small group Bible studies & one to one settings. The goals of this organization include evangelism, growth in the knowledge & application of God’s grace, an atmosphere of sincere fellowship, service to those in the community, and the development of a Biblical world & life view.

U-KIRK – is a student organization sponsored by Presbyterian ministries and led by DSU’s Dr. John Alvarez.

Wesley Foundation – The purpose of this organization is to aid all people to a better understanding of the Christian faith, to aid them in their search for meaning in life, and to help them grow normally in all aspects of life.

Westminster Fellowship – Partner of the Christian Student Center.


Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the campus governing body for the DSU fraternities affiliated nationally with the National Interfraternity Council.

Panhellenic Council (NPC) is composed of Greek women interested in strengthening the bonds among the sororities. Its purposes are to maintain a high standard of sorority life and interfraternity relationships within the university, to further intellectual accomplishment and sound scholarship, and to cooperate with the college administration in the maintenance of high social standards.

National Pan-Hellenic Council, Inc. (NPHC) is an umbrella organization for seven historically black, international Greek letter Fraternities and Sororities. The council promotes interaction through forums, meetings and other mediums for the exchange of information and engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through various activities and functions.

Associated Greek Body – The ASG is a pending student organization. This organization’s mission is to collaborate with all governing Greek Council and their membership to explore and engage is multicultural awareness and educational programming for social Greek members.

Greeks for Christ – The purpose of this organization is to promote a healthy spirit among the Greek Life community. Membership is open to all members of the Christian faith.
