What are the hours of the health center?
Hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, closed from 12:00 – 1:00 pm for lunch. On Friday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., Health Center hours are held at Cleveland After Hours Clinic. The certified family nurse practitioner is accessible during these hours. The Health Center will be closed all nights, weekends, interim periods between semesters and university holidays. After hour care is provided by the After Hours Clinic at the Cleveland Medical Mall on Hwy. 8 East Cleveland.
Do I need an appointment?
No appointments needed. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis with the exception of a true emergency. Expect to present your insurance upon reception.
Can I get a referral to a doctor?
Doctors are available upon referral from the Health Center nurses only and will be seen as a work in to their regular appointments at the Cleveland Medical Mall on Hwy. 8 East. The MD fee and other related expenses will be the responsibility of the student who was referred.
Where is the Health Center located?
Located across from Brumby-Castle Residence Hall, near the cafeteria, and behind the Student Union.
Who is eligible to utilize the Health Center?
Full time students status; fall/spring semesters–15 hours per semester undergraduates, 9 hours per semester graduate students. Summer Sessions–6 hours per summer session. DSU faculty and staff are also eligible. Campus residency is not a requirement for the use of student health.
Are my visits to the Health Center visits confidential?
No information will be released without a signed statement by the person receiving medical care.
Does the Health Center offer specialty services?
Health Services does not offer any form of Birth Control. This service is available at the local health department.
Does the Health Center offer lab work / x-rays / injections?
These services are referred to a local doctor’s office at the student’s expense.
What about international students?
International students are required to have a chest X-Ray for tuberculosis. This must be completed after arrival in the United States at a local physicians office.
