Greek Life Recruitment

DSU Panhellenic Council

Sorority Membership Recruitment Week for Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Delta, and Phi Mu is one week concentrating on potential members becoming acquainted with the sorority system.  The week begins with NPC recruitment orientation on August 9, 2014 and with sororities offering bids for membership on August 13, 2014.  Students participating in the week’s activities will be allowed to move into their assigned university housing the morning that recruitment activities begin, no earlier than 10:00 am.  The first official Recruitment activity begins at 2:00 pm on August 9, 2014.

Each activity planned helps potential members and sorority members acquaint themselves with one another.  During recruitment functions, potential members will visit with sorority members.  Presentations also provide information about each sorority’s activities and expectations.  As the week progresses, the parties become more serious.  The skits and laughter fade into ceremonies and quiet songs.  Here the potential member gets a glimpse of the true importance of sorority life.

Any regularly enrolled woman at Delta State University who is neither on social nor scholastic probation and is properly registered for membership recruitment is eligible for participation.  Each individual sorority has its own minimum scholastic requirements to consider in the selection process. These are not publicized.

Women interested in NPC Membership Recruitment week must register online. The online registration form will be available on the DSU Website under “Student Life”, then “Greek Organizations”, and finally under “Recruitment”. If you should have any problems with registration, please call the Panhellenic Advisor at 662-846-4666.  The registration fee will be available on the online form and will need to be mailed to the “Panhellenic Advisor, DSU Box 3202, Cleveland, MS 38733, or must be presented upon check in for Recruitment on August 9, 2014. (If postmarked or paid after July 31st, the fee does increase).  The fee includes a pizza party, a t-shirt, and printing and processing costs.  A question and answer session will be conducted by sorority members during the summer orientation sessions attended by new students.

National Pan-Hellenic Council

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) affiliated sororities and fraternities at DSU represent historically African-American national Greek-lettered community service groups.  Each group announces membership recruitment individually during the school year.  For more information on the NPHC membership, contact the NPHC Advisor in Bailey 108, or call 662-846-4152.

Interfraternity Council

These fraternities at Delta State will offer you programs that will help you grow and mature academically, physically, socially and spiritually.  You will learn much and be exposed to new experiences that will well prepare you for the post-college years.  You can learn more about the IFC’s five nationally recognized chapters by participating in our fall or spring recruitment program.  The fraternity experience is a challenging and rewarding one.  Fraternity life allows you to become an integral, contributing part of both the campus community and a University tradition.  We are confident you will find a fraternity that shares your ideals and values.  There is truly a fraternity for everyone at DSU. An online registration form will be available at a later date.  For more information, contact the IFC Advisor in Union 200, or call 662-846-4666.
