What Can I do with my Major?

Want to know what to do with your major? Or are you having a hard time understanding what a specific major or career path has to offer you? If so, take some time to use The Career Explorer feature in Statesmen Connect. The Career Explorer allows you to explore careers based on industries, growth, green jobs, preparation and other criteria. Follow the steps below to begin.

You must be a registered Statesmen Connect user to use the Career Explorer. 

1. Log-in to Statesmen Connect

2. In the Resources Tab located at the top of the home page, select Career Explorer

3. In the “Keyword” Section, type your major or career interest area. (e.g. – Accounting, Coach, Computer Information Systems)

4. Select Apply Search

5. Your search should return results that match the keyword that you typed

6. Click on each result to explore

Finding a Major

Finding a major can be tough! Our office is here to assist you in finding the major that best fits you. In order to start you path here are the steps to get you started.

1. Come by or call our office to make an appointment

2. Log into Statesmen Connect and take the Career Finder survey located in the Resources tab on your Statesmen Connect home screen. You must be a registered user of Statesmen Connect to use the Career Explorer.

3. Attend your appointment ( bring a list of your activities, and job history)

Be prepared to meet with the Career Services staff a few times. Finding a good path takes time, but we will assist you in finding your match here a Delta State.

JobApplicationCenter.com - A free online resource for helping students and graduates find specific information and advice on how to apply online and offline to every major national company in America. Students coming to our site can search a database of over 1500 articles each tailored to a specific company they may be interested in. We have many pages about companies located specifically in Mississippi.  Instead of just searching job openings, our resources allow the more aggressive job seeker to find information and advice about the specific company they want to target. All of our resource material is written by different experts in that particular field and all of it is free to use.
