As a member of the DSU faculty/staff, we encourage you to utilize the services and programs offered by Career Services. We serve as your source for professional development for you and your professional & student staff. Several programs have been designed with you in mind:
Don’t Cancel Class Program
DSU Career Services understands that faculty schedules are very hectic. Between class preparation, student advising, research, family obligations and participation in professional organizations, missing class may sometimes be unavoidable. When these situations arise, our “Don’t Cancel Class program” provides faculty and staff members with a series of career related presentation options designed to assist in preparing students for the work world.
The Career Services’ staff will meet with your class, take attendance, present a topic from those listed below and evaluate the workshop. Afterward, we will provide you with a copy of the attendance record and all handouts.
The Don’t Cancel Class series is designed with today’s student in mind. Presented in an interactive format, these programs utilize technology and today’s student jargon to assist in student learning and participation. Most programs are adaptable to any student classification.
Annual Majors’ Fair
Many students visit our office and are unsure about what they want to major in here at DSU. Some do not have any idea of what all types of majors we have. Others are nearing graduation and feel that they are majoring in the wrong thing and want to change their major.
The Major Fair will be held in the H.L. Nowell Union in the 2nd floor west lobby. We invite all academic departments across campus to set up booths highlighting their majors. And, the more creative the booths, the better….find a fun way to get the students’ attention about what they can do if they major in your areas!
We have lots of ideas, and we’ll be glad to help you come up with an eye-catching booth. Your department may register to attend the major’s fair via Statesmen Connect.
Our office invites you to post your WorkStudy, RSE, and GA positions with us via Statesmen Connect. Your department should have an account within Statesmen Connect. If not, you may register your department HERE.
If you have any issues or questions about your Statesmen Connect account please contact our office at 662-846-4646.
