Applying for Financial Aid

How Do I Apply for Financial Aid?

Each year students must complete the free application for financial aid (FAFSA). This application will ask questions about the income of the parents and student, the size of the family, and assets. The application can be submitted in one of two ways.

  • The student can complete the application and mail it to the federal processor in the envelope provided.

  • The student can complete the application on the internet and mail the signature page:
     http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

The federal government will take that data and provide information to the school so that the amount of grant, loan, and federal work study can be determined for that student. Students can list up to six schools on their application. These schools will receive your information electronically. You will receive a paper copy of the results in approximately 3 weeks. This report is called a Student Aid Report (SAR).

Delta State will review the information and determine what additional documents are needed. Copies of tax returns, institutional forms, a copy of your social security card, a copy of your marriage license, or other documents may be required.

Once all required documents are received by Delta State, the student will be notified with an award letter of how much grant, loan, or work study they can receive. If loans are involved, an additional application may be required.

How Do I Apply for MTAG or MESG?
