Courses in both
two and three dimensional design are required in the core curriculum of the
Bachelor of Fine Arts and BA in Art Education degrees. These three beginning
design courses along with core drawing courses provide an early foundation in
art techniques and principles. A BFA in Graphic Design prepares a student for
a career as a design professional.
The program encompasses
the development
of computer skills, fluency in the language of visual design, presentation and
self-promotion techniques that are invaluable to anyone working in the industry.
A very successful
feature of the Graphic Design program is a six credit hour internship with an
approved advertising agency, printer, in house art dept. or other appropriate
business. This 6 week internship provides a transition from classroom to workplace
and results in job offers in a majority of cases. Our graduates currently occupy
positions throughout the southeast and across the country working as art directors,
illustrators, production artists and account executives.
