Frequently Asked Questions

What you need to know:

  • Hours: Student Health Services is a 24 hour weekday operation, with helpful phone numbers posted on doors when closed.  Student Health opens at 3 PM Sunday and closes at 3 PM on Fridays. The Student Health Center will be closed all weekends, interim periods between semesters and university holidays.
  • Appointments:  No appointments needed.  We operate on a first-come, first-served basis with the exception of a true emergency.
  • Doctors visits:  Doctors are available from 7:00-7:25 AM weekdays, with wake up calls available.  Students must arrive between 7:00-7:15 AM in order to see the Doctor.
  • Location:  Located across from Brumby-Castle Hall, near the cafeteria, and behind the Student Union.

  • Eligibility:  Full time student status; Fall/Spring semesters--12 hours per semester undergraduates, 9 hours per semester graduate students.  Summer Sessions--6 hours per summer session.  Campus residency is not a requirement for the use of student health.
  • Confidentiality:  No information will be released without a signed statement by the student receiving medical care.
  • Specialty Services:  Student Health Services does not offer any form of Birth Control.  This service is available at the local health department.  We do, however, offer pregnancy tests for a small fee.
  • Lab Work & X-Rays:  These services are referred to a local doctor's office at the student's expense.
  • International Students:  International students are required to have a chest X-Ray for tuberculosis.  This must been completed after arrival in the United States, and when done at the Health Center is FREE. 
  • Safe Place On Campus:  In cases of assault, battery, or rape, Student Health provides a safe haven on campus.
  • Overnight care:  There are 16 beds available during weekdays for students too sick to attend classes.  Excuses are given to students for the time spent in bed at the Health Center.
