The Coordinated Program in Dietetics at Delta State University is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetic Education of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6998, 312-899-4876.

 

A Registered Dietitian (RD) is nationally recognized as an expert in the field of food and nutrition.

       

To become a Registered Dietitian, you are required to meet
eligibility requirements established by The American Dietetic Association (ADA)

 

 Career Opportunities in the Nutrition and Dietetic Fields

 
 

  • Health care
  • Commercial business and industry, school feeding,  community and public health programs
  • Wellness centers, day-care centers, or are self-employed   in private practice

 

Upon Successful Completion of the Program students will:

  • Receive Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Be eligible to take the registration exam for dieticians
  • Be eligible for active membership in The American Dietetic Association
  • Be eligible for employment as an entry-level dietitian

  • Overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 system
  • Completion of at least 85 hours of specific prerequisites
  • Minimum grade of "C" in required courses

       

Admission to the university does not assure admission to the coordinated program. Separate   application to the coordinated program is necessary. It will be necessary for each student to have reliable transportation since most supervised practice sites will be within a 65-mile radius of Cleveland. A physical examination and proof of healthcare insurance are required prior to admission.
