Evolving Human Voices: Studies of the Written Word
(Dr. William Hays, supervisor):

  • Provides students the training necessary to interpret complex literary and/or rhetorical texts, and to understand and discuss diverse critical perspectives for the analysis of those texts;
  • Studies the organic nature of written and oral language;
  • Fosters advanced skills in research and analytical as well as creative writing;
  • Helps students develop a richer appreciation of contemporary diversity issues;
  • Prepares students to continue their studies on a doctoral level;
  • Provides students the option of pursuing an 18-hour concentration in English;
  • Engages students in current research and scholarship in languages and literature.
