The Delta Music Institute awards a limited numbers of music industry scholarships each year to incoming freshmen and incoming transfer students from community colleges.
Guidelines (for incoming freshmen):
• Student must be an incoming freshman declaring music industry studies as the major
• Student must have earned a minimum 3.0 overall GPA in high school
• BS-MIS scholarship recipients must have a minimum semester GPA of 2.75 each semester they are receiving the scholarship. In the event that a recipient’s semester GPA is less than 2.75, the scholarship will be revoked for that semester and the former scholarship recipient will be responsible for any and all fees incurred as a result of the revocation.
Application Process (for incoming freshmen):

• Students must submit a 500 word essay highlighting
(a) accomplishments and extracurricular activities
(b) student areas of interest in the music industry
• Students must submit one letter of recommendation from a high school faculty member familiar with the student's academic work
• All material must be sent to the Director of the Delta Music Institute (DSU Box 3114)
• Deadline for submission of scholarship application materials must be postmarked on or before March 1.
Guidelines (for transfer students):
• Student must be an incoming music industry studies student, declaring music industry studies as the major
• Student must have earned a minimum 2.5 overall GPA on 60 hours of work
• BS-MIS scholarship recipients must have a minimum semester GPA of 2.50 each semester they are receiving the scholarship. In the event that a recipient’s semester GPA is less than 2.50, the scholarship will be revoked for that semester and the former scholarship recipient will be responsible for any and all fees incurred as a result of the revocation.

• Students must submit one letter of recommendation from an instructor familiar with the student's academic work

• Deadline for submission of scholarship application materials must be postmarked on or before March 1.
As funds are available, In The Pocket Scholarships are offered to students meeting the criteria below seeking additional financial assistance.

• Student must be a declared music industry studies major
• Student must have earned a minimum 2.5 overall GPA at the time of scholarship application
• Student must have completed FASFA application requirements through the DSU Financial Aid Office
• Student must qualify for Pell Grant
• BS-MIS scholarship recipients must have a minimum semester GPA of 2.50 each semester they are receiving the scholarship. In the event that a recipient’s semester GPA is less than 2.50, the scholarship will be revoked for that semester and the former scholarship recipient will be responsible for any and all fees incurred as a result of the revocation.

• Students must submit one letter of recommendation from an instructor familiar with the students’ academic work

Selection Process For All Scholarships:
• The Delta Music Institute Scholarship Committee will review applications and notify each applicant their award status.
