Dr. Mistie Barnes received her MEd in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Mississippi, as well as her undergraduate degree in English and Psychology. Her areas of specialization and research interest include play therapy, creative interventions and techniques, physical and sexual abuse, trauma, and childhood and adolescent disorders. Miss Barnes has over 8 years of clinical experience working in the community with children and supervising interns, those seeking LPC licensure, and those seeking credentialing as a Registered Play Therapist. Miss Barnes is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Board Qualified Supervisor in the state of Mississippi, and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. She has published chapters and techniques in several books, participates regularly in committee work with the Association for Play Therapy, and is Past-President of the Mississippi Association for Play Therapy.
