1949

Dr. John C. Merrill, an emeritus of Delta State, paid tribute to his hometown with a presentation of many awards.

1960’s

1960

Dr. WW (Wimp) Nichols received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his work on arterial structure and function as it relates to cardiovascular diseases at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England, on September 9, 2009.

1966

 

Jimmy Junkin, of Boerne, TX, was recently awarded by the San Antonio Business Journal, the 2009 Best CFO Lifetime Achievement Award.

Shirley W. Cartlidge, of Greenville, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education.

Deborah Nichols, of Raymond, was honored by Hinds Community College Athletic Department.

Ray Ishee, of Wesson, was inducted into the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Sports Hall of Fame for the years he played football.

Hayden Mitchell, of Hattiesburg, has joined The First as head of the bank's mortgage division.

David Dallas, of Cleveland, was recently hired by Delta Regional Medical Center  Health Care Foundation of the Tri-State Delta as Executive Director.

Kevin W. Cox, of Cleveland, was recently selected as the Conoco/Phillips Volunteer of the Year at the Mississippi Swimming Banquet held in Jackson.

Dr. Heather Hawthorne, MD, has completed her residency in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics and has begun a Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at UAB in Birmingham, AL.

Stephanie M. Eddleman, PhD, was awarded a PhD in English from the University of Mississippi, and has been promoted to Assistant Professor of English at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.

Jessica Edwards Gilmer, of Yazoo City, became the district’s new Tech Prep coordinator on June 1, with an office on the Rankin Campus.

Ronnie Sanders, of , was recently accepted to University of MS Medical Center School of Health Related Professions/Occupational Therapy.

Jamie Hudson, of Yazoo City, was recently elected President of the Junior Auxiliary of Yazoo City, and also her business Tickled Pink, was named Salon of the 2009 Year for  the 5th consecutive year.

2007

Pamela D. Tucker, of Beulah, recently completed her M.A. in Teaching and Learning with Technology from Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa.  She also accepted a position as math specialist at Coahoma Community College and was recognized last year as teacher of the year for West Bolivar High School by the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce.
