DMI Summer Camp 2013

The Delta Music Institute on the campus of Delta State University hosts a DMI summer camp each year on the DSU campus.

The DMI Summer Camp is a six-day interactive experience for high school students ages 15-18 exploring three music career tracks that are integrated together, culminating in a recording and showcase performance. College faculty, music industry professionals and specialists provide hands-on instruction grounded in both academic and real-world applications. The curriculum covers the creative process and technical aspects of songwriting, performing and recording. Although it is helpful to have had previous musical training, it is not required in order to attend the camp.

Some of the topics covered in the camp are studio recording techniques, MIDI, music theory, songwriting, and performance. Daily instruction is held in the Delta Music Institute that houses the DMI recording studios, classrooms, and rehearsal space.  The final camp showcase is held in the Bologna Performing Arts Center on campus.
