DMI Bands
Ol’ Skool Revue, a musical group of students and faculty from the Delta Music Institute of Delta State University, is quickly becoming an area favorite to music lovers of the ol’ skool sound.
Ol’ Skool Revue, which was reformatted from the former DSU Blues band, has extended their repertoire to include hits from not only the blues, but also from the genres of R&B, Soul, and Funk. Band members have become students of the history of the songs, and the session musicians that made the songs hits, such as the Funk Brothers from Motown, the Stax session players from Memphis and the Muscle Shoals rhythm section from north Alabama.
DeltaRoX is the newly formed classic rock band from the Delta Music Institute at Delta State University,
DeltaRoX’s set list includes hits from the 70s and 80s in the classic rock genre of American music. Barry Bays, instructor and director of DMI ensembles noted that, “this DMI ensemble is working hard to present a wide range of songs that have grown out of various styles of roots music to become American classics.”
