A total of nine separate scholarships will be awarded annually to deserving students enrolled in the Delta Music Institute program who audition and participate in one of the DMI performing ensembles. In September of each academic year, eight scholarships are to be awarded in increments of $600 each and one separate student will be named the “Morris Scholar” and will receive a $1200 scholarship.

 

Each student can only receive one of the Morris scholarships annually. Students can be named the “Morris Scholar” only once, and are not eligible to receive the “Morris Scholar” in subsequent years.

 

The scholarship may be renewed annually if the student remains in good academic standing with the University. However, there is no guarantee that these scholarships will be funded or awarded each year.

 

The Delta Music Institute Scholarship Selection Committee will select the recipient(s).

 

DMI Ensemble Scholarship recipients must obtain a final semester GPA of 2.0 or better each semester(s) they are receiving the scholarship(s). In the event that a recipient’s final semester GPA is less than 2.0, the scholarship will be revoked for the semester and the former scholarship recipient will be responsible for any and all fees incurred as a result of the revocation. The Morris Scholar must obtain a final semester GPA of 2.5 or better.
