Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunities:

You are encouraged to apply for and obtain an undergraduate research job each summer. This will not only provide a source of income over the summer, but will expose you to the process of doing what it is you are studying for! You will get the opportunity to be a part of the scientific process and may discover a passion that will guide your choices for graduate school and beyond. Please check here for the most current list of available opportunities.

  • USDA and the Mississippi State Extension both run expansive research facilities right here in the Delta. See Mrs. Fitts for an application for summer employment at the Stoneville location. Some of the topics of research include: Biological control of pests, catfish genetics, cotton ginning research, crop genetics and production, insect management, and weed science.
  • Summer Research Institute for Undergraduates - for undergraduates in MS through the AGEM program
  • Baxter Healthcare offers internships for science students after completion of their sophomore years. This is an excellent local opportunity! See Mrs. Fitts in Walters 179 for more information.
  • To locate undergraduate research, internship, and other summer work in the chemical sciences, visit the ACS postings.
