Mississippi Alliance for Minority Participation (MAMP) and  IMAGE

The MAMP Program at Delta State University began in 1991 as part of The Mississippi Alliance for Minority Participation.  The Alliance, now officially known as The Louis Stokes Mississippi Alliance for Minority Participation (LSMAMP), is funded by The National Science Foundation and the eight public universities in Mississippi. Mississippi is one of the original states in the Alliance, which now may be found across the nation. The goal of the MAMP program is to increase the number of degrees awarded in science, technology, engineering, and research (STEM) to underrepresented minority groups at the undergraduate level. The MAMP program provides participants primarily with academic support and mentoring.

The participants in the MAMP program have come to be known as IMAGE students or IMAGE scholars. The acronym IMAGE stands for Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education. Based on a rigorous academic program that produces the state's best and brightest, MAMP seeks to open gateways of opportunity to all IMAGE students.
