Academic Support & Developmental Studies
Academic Support is designed to assist students in developing the skills and attitudes necessary for success in college course work at Delta State University. The Academic Support Lab is located in room 311 of the H. L. Nowell Union building and is staffed by a full-time director and upper level students who serve as tutors for the general student population. Additional services are available to strengthen students developmentally in reading comprehension, time management, and study skills. The Academic Support Program also includes study skills classes and study skills workshops that are designed to reinforce academic skills necessary for success in college courses.
The goals of the Academic Support Program at Delta State University are:

to provide the support services that are necessary for student success in college courses.

to identify at-risk students and meet the needs of those students to increase student retention.

to assist students in developing an educational plan consistent with life goals and objectives.

to equip students with the skills and attitudes necessary for the attainment of personal goals.

to provide accurate information about Delta State University's institutional policies, procedures, and programs.
The lab is available for general student use during the spring semester at the following times:

7:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon
1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday
7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday
7:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon
1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Thursday
7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
1:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Friday
7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
