Woodson Earle honored with “Key to the University”
Woodson Earle (left), a 1951 alumnus, was honored at the Attala/Holmes/Montgomery Counties Alumni Chapter with the first ever “Key to the University” in recognition of his contributions as a teacher and coach. Presenting the key were Nell Branch, president of the Chapter, and Keith Fulcher, Executive Director of the DSU Alumni-Foundation. Earle, a member of the Delta State Sports Hall of Fame, taught and coached at Lexington High School, Central Holmes Academy, and Holmes Community College. He was further honored by the establishment of an endowed scholarship in his name initiated by three of his former football players from the Lexington Hornets- Hunter Cade, Kirkham Povall, and Don Barrett. Gifts to the scholarship may be sent to Box 3141, Cleveland, MS 38733.
Veteran Memorial Atrium Project
The planning committee for the Delta State University’s Veteran Memorial Atrium Project recently discussed plans to enhance the area located at Jobe Hall. The group plans to adorn the area with plants, benches, plaques and flags that will be a gathering place for numerous events. Washington County Alumni Recognize Buchanan
Curtis Buchanan (second from right) was presented the “Key to the University” by Washington County Chamber of Commerce Director and DSU almna Betty Lynn Cameron for Buchanan’s service to the University. It is only the second time the award has ever been given. At left is incoming president of the Washington County Delta State Alumni Association, Ross Reily. At right is the outgoing president, Ashley Zepponi.
