The Writing Center staff offers help and feedback at all stages of your writing process.

  • We offer individual help with:
    • Composing a thesis statement
    • Organizing and developing an argument
    • Identifying and resolving problems of sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation
    • Using style manuals (MLA, APA, etc.) for writing in various disciplines
  • In addition to academic essays, we also offer assistance with:
    • The Writing Proficiency Exam
    • The PRAXIS
    • The MCAT
    • Application essays for graduate and professional school
    • Resumes
    • Cover letters
    • Websites, posters, broch

For emergency aid when the DSU Writing Center is not open, try Purdue University’s Online Writing Lab. Although they cannot read your essays, you can use the site to find information on the following topics:

  • Grammar and punctuation
  • Common ESL (English as a Second Language) problems
  • Writing using research
  • MLA style
  • APA style
  • Resumes and cover letters
