Emmett Till Traveling Exhibit

DESCRIPTION

The exhibit is arranged on ten free-standing QuickScreen3 panels.  Each panel weighs approximately 7 lbs. and measures 7' high by 39" wide when fully extended.  For shipping purposes, the panel retracts back into the base.  Click here to see a QuickScreen3 demonstration.

Each panel has a theme which describes one portion of the story and trial of Emmett Till.  For instance, the first panel is "Sumner" which introduces the small Mississippi Delta town where the trial took place.  Newspaper headlines and commentary describe the atmosphere while personal correspondence offers a glimpse into the thoughts and feelings of the public as they watched the events unfold.

FEES

Borrowing institutions are financially responsible for tranporting the entire exhibit to its institution and back to Delta State University.  The exhibit can be delivered by the University Archivist, shipped UPS, FedEx or USPS, or an institution may schedule to pick it up and return it themselves.

GALLERY GUIDES have been designed to enhance the visitor's experience through the exhibit.  Each borrowing institution is encouraged to request a set of guides which can be purchased from the DSU Archives when scheduling the exhibit.  Each site can determine how many Gallery Guides they would like to request.  Gallery Guides may be purchased for .30 cents each.

TEACHER AIDS are specifically designed to meet certain curriculum standards and are also available for purchase from the DSU Archives.  These can be sent out to local school teachers to encourage them to bring their classes to the exhibit.  The aids introduce several themes explored in the exhibit and can be used to prepare students for the visit as well as provide follow-up activities once the students have returned to their schools.  Teacher Aids may be purchased for .30 cents each.

SCHEDULING

A borrowing institution may request the exhibit to be on display for up to a five week time frame.  To schedule a time for your institution to borrow the exhibit, please contact the University Archives at 662.846.4780 or archives@deltastate.edu.
