Special Projects

According to Joel Barker, More than anything else, leaders build bridges—bridges that help us move from where we are to where we need to be.  Bridges made of hope and ideas and opportunity; bridges wide and strong enough so that all who wish to cross can do so safely.

The Office of Special Projects at Delta State University works closely with community and economic development opportunities throughout the Mid-South to help build these bridges.  Under the direction and leadership of Dr. Myrtis Tabb, this department administers a variety of programs and projects focusing on leadership, community and economic development.  Efforts include, but are not limited to, the Mid-South Delta Leaders program, funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation/Mid South Delta Initiative; the Mississippi Delta Women’s Leadership Conference, DSU’s Year of Health & Wellness in the Delta, the Mississippi Delta Technology Council, funded by the Small Business Administration; and, the Economic and Community Development for Public Officials and Community Leaders program, funded by the Robert M. Hearin Foundation.

The Office of Special Projects is located in Kent Wyatt Hall, Room 254.
