Pro Tools M-Powered 7 with Apple MacBook Pro

The following Apple MacBook Pro computers are supported with M-Audio USB and FireWire audio interfaces with Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 for Mac OS X 10.4 for Intel-based processors:

MacBook Pro
MacBook Pro 15" 1.67GHz Intel Core Duo
MacBook Pro 15" 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo
MacBook Pro 15" 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo
MacBook Pro 15" 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo
MacBook Pro 17" 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo

Compatibility Alert
Use of M-Audio USB Audio Intefaces, Mbox, Mbox 2 or Other USB Audio
Devices on the Right-Hand USB Port Is Not Recommended
The 15" MacBook Pro models have 1 USB port on the left side, and one USB port on the right side.
The 17" MacBook Pro models have 2 USB ports on the left side, and one USB port on the right side.
Due to internal USB architecture issues on the MacBook Pro, use of Digidesign, M-Audio, or third-party USB audio devices is supported on the left-hand USB ports only (the port or ports next to the power adapter cable).
Use of such devices on the right-hand USB port is not advised because it may cause audio interrupts and/or dropped samples.
However, the use of an iLok on the right-hand port has been qualified and is fully supported.

Additional Requirements
Pro Tools M-Powered 7 Compatibility
Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 for Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) for Intel
Pro Tools M-Powered software will not work without M-Audio hardware connected
Pro Tools M-Powered supports the use of any single supported Pro Tools M-Powered M-Audio interface. Simultaneous use of multiple Pro Tools M-Powered hardware devices is not supported.

System Software
Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 is officially supported on Mac OS X 10.4.6 for Intel - Testing is in progress with Mac OS X 10.4.7
- Although there are currently no known issues with Pro Tools and Mac OS X 10.4.7, it has not been officially qualified by Digidesign
Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1 will NOT install on a PPC-based Mac

Total System RAM
512 MB minimum required* for Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.1, more recommended
More RAM increases overall system and Pro Tools performance
More RAM suggested for sessions with high edit density, extensive use of plug-ins, or simultaneous use with MIDI sequencers
*Additional RAM Requirements — Music Production Toolkit Option
The purchase of this option expands a Pro Tools M-Powered system from 32 total voiceable tracks to up to 48 mono or 48 stereo tracks at up to 96 kHz (interface permitting)
In order to reliably achieve maximum track count with the Music Production Toolkit, 1.5 GB RAM or more is required on Mac OS X for Intel

Maximum Performance Guidelines
Recording to the system startup drive is not recommended or supported
Although limited recording and playback of audio tracks may be possible using the internal drive, a separate external dedicated audio hard drive (or multiple drives) is highly recommended for maximum performance and track count. Digidesign recommends the use of FireWire drives for use with these computers.
2 external dedicated FireWire audio drives are required to achieve maximum track count with Music Production Toolkit
Pro Tools Does Not Support Sleep Mode
In the Macintosh System Preferences, launch Energy Saver, click the Sleep tab, and disable all Sleep features. Set "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive" to Never. Do not manually put your computer to sleep when running Pro Tools.
