Welcome to the Delta State University Robert E. Smith School of Nursing website! I am pleased to have this opportunity to tell you about our nursing programs. We offer undergraduate degrees for individuals wanting to become a baccalaureate prepared registered nurse and RNs seeking a baccalaureate degree. We also offer a Masters Program with Nurse Administrator, Nurse Educator and Nurse Practitioner tracks as well as Post Masters options. Our Nurse Practitioner track offers FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), GNP (Gerontological Nurse Practitioner) and PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) focus options. Because the need for well-educated, highly skilled nurses has never been greater, we strive to excel in nursing education by applying the best research evidence to our education and nursing practices. Our graduates can be assured that they will be well prepared for positions of responsibility in all areas of health care. They are known throughout Mississippi for their exemplar nursing care, knowledge and caring as practitioners, educators and administrators. The Robert E. Smith School of Nursing also partners with the rural communities in the Mississippi Delta to promote good health habits and to help meet the unique health care needs of this region.
