Fall 2008 Commencement

·         A student who has filed an application for graduation for the December 13 Commencement and does not plan to complete graduation requirements by December 13, 2008 must contact Judy Godbold  in the Registrar’s Office and his/her Dean’s office before your graduation fee is posted to your account.  This graduation fee is non-refundable.   

·         All college accounts, library and police fines, and financial aid loan holds must be cleared before graduation. 

·         The graduation fee for ALL GRADUATES is $60 and is due in the Student Business Services’ office by December 1.  If a student is unable to attend commencement, the student should mail his/her Social Security or DSU ID Number and an ADDITIONAL $10 mailing fee to the Student Business Services’ Office, Kent Wyatt Hall #131, Delta State University, Cleveland, MS 38733 by December 1.  Diplomas for absentias will be mailed in December if the $70 fee has been received and all holds on your account have been removed.                   

·         Caps and gowns will be given out in Kent Wyatt Hall #152 beginning 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, until Commencement Exercises on Friday.  The Registrar’s Office will be open after rehearsal for late regalia pick-up.  

·         Rehearsal for the Commencement Exercises will be held in Walter Sillers Coliseum at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 12.

·         Correspondence grades, incomplete grade removals and grades from other institutions MUST be in the Registrar's Office by December 4.  A student taking courses at another institution must request an official transcript from that institution be mailed to: Judy Godbold, Registrar's Office, Delta State University, Cleveland, MS 38733 after completing the course/s.  Please check by December 4 to make sure the transfer work, correspondence grade/s, and/or incomplete removals have been received by Judy Godbold (846-4043).

·         If a student is eligible for certification through the State Department of Education in Jackson, please be sure an  application for certification is on file in the Office of Field Experiences, Ewing 370 (846-4405).

·         TICKETS: Each graduate will be allowed at least six (possibly 8) tickets (subject to change due to the number of graduates) for guests in the coliseum.  Tickets will be issued with the regalia.  NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE COLISEUM WITHOUT A TICKET.   

 

NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF SIX MAY BE PRESENT AT COMMENCEMENT, UNLESS HE/SHE IS THE CHILD OF A GRADUATING STUDENT – THE CHILD MUST HAVE A TICKET REGARDLESS OF AGE TO BE ADMITTED. 

 

·         The dress code for men is dark pants, shirt, tie and dark shoes.  For women, it is dress or dark pants outfit and dark shoes.
