GENERAL INFORMATION ON ADVISING

ADVISEMENT

Students will be assigned faculty advisers in the department or division in which they are majoring. The advisers assist students in developing their degree programs and in preparing for careers. Any request to change degree requirements must originate with the adviser. Advisers cannot change requirements as they appear in the Bulletin, but they can recommend a modification to the Dean. Application for the degree must also originate with the adviser.

Students themselves have the final responsibility to make sure they meet all requirements for graduation as stated in the Bulletin. Faculty advisers, the Dean's Office, and the Registrar's Office provide assistance. It is essential that students familiarize themselves with the Bulletin and make sure they meet all requirements.

SCHEDULE PLANNING AND REGISTRATION

With the assistance of the adviser, the student determines courses in which to enroll in the next term. Essential publications are the Bulletin and Schedule of Classes. Specific directions for registration and pre-registration are given at
the appropriate times during the semester. Students will report to their advisor for a PIN # for registration. Detailed
instructions for on-line registration will be given to you when you meet with your advisor.
