Service Alerts

OIT will be performing maintenance and updates on campus servers and other equipment this Friday as part of an approved scheduled maintenance window. Software updates for all Windows and Unix servers will be applied and hardware changes will be implemented to move to a new virtual server environment.

Active Directory, Student Email and Faculty-Staff email will have an extended down period. We will be moving these critical systems to the new VMware Virtual Infrastructure system and the Sun Microsystems SAN environment. This move will help reduce costs associated with the hardware maintenance and power requirements of these systems while providing redundancy to these critical systems. This is a significant step forward in infrastructure improvement for the campus. You will experience connection issues when trying to connect to these services during the maintenance window until they are fully restored by Sunday morning.

Extended Interruption to the following services will occur
·         Microsoft Active Directory (Logging into your machine and File and Print services- should be under one hour)
·         Student Email System (Okramail sending and receiving email to students)
·         Faculty-Staff Email System (Access to this system will be down and you will not be able to access your email during the outage)

Brief Interruptions to the following services will occur
·         Blackboard CE 6.0 (course management system)
·         DSU Website
·         Internet Access
·         NTWeb – Faculty Web Server
·         One Card (on and off-campus)
·      Banner (will be fully available with the exception of the few minutes when AD is moved to new server)
