When: Thursday, February 18, 2010 11:00 AM -1:00 PM CST
After much pre-planning and preparation, OIT will have system engineers on campus Thursday, February 18, 2010 to perform the final steps in the bandwidth upgrade for DSU. This upgrade will provide much needed relief for the intermittent congestion we sometimes experience while also providing room for growth. Between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the 18th, we will be completing the upgrade from the current DS3 conection to the new OC3 connection, essentially tripling the University's bandwidth capacity.
During this two-hour window, the University will see intermittent Internet connections as we work to complete the migration. Normally, we would perform this type of upgrade after-hours, but given the significance of the change involved, it is critical that we have all of our vendors available for assistance and that requires that we make the cutover during the day.
Once we have completed the process, we will send out a notification to the campus and will continue to monitor services so that we may immediately address any issues that may arise from the upgrade. We appreciate your patience as we complete this migration, and anticipate that we will see much fewer issues with bandwidth congestion for the immediate future.
