Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia of America was founded in 1898 at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Since Sinfonia became a national fraternity is 1900 it has become the largest music fraternity in the world with more than 140,000 initiates and chapters on nearly 200 college and university campuses across the nation. Phi Kappa Lambda

The Society of Pi Kappa Lambda, founded at Northwestern University in 1916, is dedicated to furthering music in education and education in music at schools, colleges, and universities that offer music degree programs. The Zeta Rho Chapter at Delta State University initiates those students who distinguish themselves in the department each year at a special ceremony.
