Dr. Henry Outlaw, Chair Emeritus of the Department of Physical Sciences at Delta State University, recently visited Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO, where he spoke on the murder of Emmett Till, accompanying the traveling exhibit on Till’s murder that was developed by the Capps Archive and Museum at Delta State University. He was invited by Dr. Robert Hamblin, director of the Center for Faulkner Studies at Southeast Missouri State. Outlaw and Hamblin grew up together in Baldwyn and both graduated from Delta State University in 1960. Outlaw’s trip was in celebration of Black History Month. The Emmett Till Traveling Exhibit is funded by the Mississippi Humanities Council. It is based on a series of oral history interviews that Outlaw conducted while employed in the Delta Center for Culture and Learning.
