The governing board of the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area, chaired by Delta State University President Dr. John Hilpert, recently met with consultants headed by The National Trust for Historic Preservation to review plans for the Heritage Area’s future. The meeting, held in Jackson, was part of the three-year planning process which will end when a formal management plan is approved by the National Park Service. The Heritage Area will help the eighteen counties of the Delta work together as a region and draw visitors into the Delta. The next public planning meetings will be held in Greenwood and also in Desoto county on February 26. Anyone interested in helping make the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area a success is invited to call the Delta Center for Culture and Learning for details of the next public meetings (662-846-4311).
