REGULAR HOURS OF OPERATION

FALL AND SPRING SEMESTERS
Student Lab: 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Thursday
Friday 8:00 - 3:00

SUMMER SESSIONS
Student Lab: 8:00 - 4:30 Monday - Thursday

Friday 8:00 - 3:00

Training Lab: By appointment only, scheduled on-line or through Center's Coordinator

Closed during holidays and between semesters.

TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT
The Center Staff provides total technology support for the Center, classrooms, offices, and personnel in the College of Education: contact the Office of Information Technology at 846-4444

  • Install all hardware and software to assure operational compatibility.
  • Review and recommend hardware and software purchases.
  • Coordinate services with the University's Division of Informational Technology.

FACULTY USE

  1. Faculty Only Area with full access to all Center Resources is available by appointment or when not in use.
  2. Faculty use of the Training Lab during and after regular hours of operation:
    a. Regular hours by reservation through the Center's online calendar.
    b. Use after hours and during breaks by appointment through the Center Coordinator and reserved through the Center's online calendar. Keys are checked out the day of use and returned the following morning.
    c. Consecutive use schedules limited to three days a week for two-week periods.
    d. Security and restricted use with "lock in" provisions for after hours.
  3. Faculty members have priority; others must schedule for special use.
  4. No-fault policy is adopted to encourage staff to report problems to Center staff.
  5. Faculty members are asked to sign in when using the lab to document use.
  6. Individual web sites for faculty will be encouraged. Sites must comply with Delta State's web policy.

DSU STUDENT USE

  1. Sign in is required to document use.
  2. No chat room, online games, or sexually explicit sites are allowed.
  3. No software may be loaded, except by permission from a Center staff member.
  4. Students may save data only on portable thumb drives.
  5. No lengthy print jobs are allowed - not all at one time.
  6. No food or drinks are allowed at computer stations.
  7. Loss of privileges for violations follow: one semester for first offense; an academic year for second offense and permanent for third offense. DSU Student Grievance Policy through Student Affairs will be followed.
  8. No-fault policy is adopted to encourage students to report problems to Center staff.


SPECIAL USE BY EXTERNAL REQUESTS

  1. Requests will be processed, approved and reserved through the Center Coordinator.
  2. Security and restricted use are required with "lock-in" provisions for after hours.
  3. Priority for special use is given to activities sponsored by the College of Education.
  4. A fee for use may be charged when approved by the Dean of the College of Education.

SERVER USE

  1. The server for the College of Education will be located in the Center's office.
  2. The Center staff will operate the server and coordinate access service with the Division of Information Technology Services through the Tech Support Specialist.
  3. Tech support for the server will be provided by the Center's staff.
  4. The server will be connected to Delta State's network.
  5. The COE Network Administrator will operate the server.

CENTER STAFF

  1. The Coordinator has full management responsibilities for the Center's operations.
  2. The COE Network Administrator is a Center team member who has primary responsibilities for operating the server, repairing and maintaining computer-based operations, providing faculty and student support, and coordinating technology services with the Division of Information Technology Services. Three levels of support follow:
    a. Level 1 - faculty and student user
    b. Level 2 - technical computer-based operations in the Center, including training for graduate assistants and other student workers.
    c. Level 3 - coordination with the Division of Information Technology Services.
  3. Graduate assistants and other students assigned work responsibilities by the Coordinator are Center Team members, with after-hours privileges to use the Center when approved by the Coordinator.

EQUIPMENT, SECURITY & CHECKOUT PROCEDURES

  1. All doors of the Center will be locked except during regular hours of operation.
  2. Distribution of keys follows:
    a. Ewing 238 - six keys assigned to the Coordinator, COE Network Administrator, Lead Graduate Assistant, Director of Field Experiences, and two for check out by the Coordinator.
    b. Ewing 238 - three keys for deadbolts assigned to the Coordinator, COE Network Administrator, and Director of Field Experiences.
    c. Ewing 221 - three keys assigned to the Coordinator, COE Network Administrator, and Director of Field Experiences.
    d. Center Office - three keys assigned to the Coordinator, COE Network Administrator, and Director of Field Experiences.
  3. Graduate assistants may use the Center after hours when approved by the Coordinator.
  4. All after hours use of the Center must be approved by the Coordinator, the Director of Field Experiences, or the Dean of the College of Education.
  5. Faculty and special use of the Center after hours must be approved by the Coordinator to assure limited access for those approved to use the Center.
  6. The Coordinator and COE Network Administrator will monitor security of the Center.
  7. Equipment checkout is handled through an online request form and can be done for short-term or long-term use. (If equipment is placed for long-term use, faculty maybe asked to relinquish use occasionally for other departmental use.)
