The Delta Center recently arranged a tamale tasting for the Mississippi Center for Justice.

The Mississippi Center for Justice, headquartered in Jackson, recently brought its governing board to the Delta to visit its satellite office in Indianola.

While in the Delta, they toured the B. B. King Museum, Club Ebony, and other landmarks in Indianola. Dr. Robbie Luckett from the Margaret Walker Center at Jackson State University traveled with the group giving insight to the Civil Rights history of the Delta.

As they concluded their day, The Delta Center for Culture and Learning at Delta State University met with the group and arranged a tamale tasting at Po Monkey’s Lounge in Merigold with music by Big A. from Clarksdale.

The group spent the night in Greenwood before heading back to Jackson.

The Delta Center serves as the management entity of the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area and is the home of the International Delta Blues Project. For more information, visit https://www.deltastate.edu/academics/delta-center-for-culture-and-learning/.
