Senior vocal recitals planned at BPAC

The Delta State University Department of Music presents the senior vocal recitals of Kimberly Wright and Kayla Murchison on March 20 at 1:40 pm in the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

The Delta State University Department of Music presents Kimberly Wright and Kayla Murchison in their senior vocal recitals on March 20 at 1:40 pm in the recital hall of the Bologna Performing Arts Center.

Wright, a senior vocal major from Southaven, is the daughter of Darrell and Helen Wright. She studies with Dr. Chad R. Payton, assistant professor of music at Delta State University. Wright will perform compositions by Bellini, Handel, Schumann, Hahn, Duparc, Hundley and Hamlisch.

Since entering Delta State in 2010, Wright has been involved with DSU Opera, Delta Singers, DSU Chorale and DSU Chamber Singers. She also performed with the DSU Wind Ensemble at President William N. LaForge’s inauguration in November of 2013. Wright is a member of the Phi Phi Chapter of Delta Delta Delta, the Gamma Zeta Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon and the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society.

Murchison, also a senior vocal major from Oxford, is the daughter of Ronnie and Becky Murchison. She studies with Dr. Mary Lenn Buchanan. Murchinson will be lecturing and performing pieces from Jason Robert Brown’s Off-Broadway musical “The Last Five Years.”

In 2012, Murchinson transferred to Delta State University from Northwest Mississippi Community College, where she was a member of the Northwest Singers, Chamber Singers, the Northwest Entertainers, the Ranger Marching Band and the Symphonic Winds Concert Band. Since entering Delta State, she has been involved with DSU Opera, Delta Singers, DSU Chorale and the Community Drumming and Dance Experience. She is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
