Lisa Sandifer, instructor in accountancy at Delta State University, will deliver the keynote address at Delta State University’s 2009 Fall Commencement on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. inside Walter Sillers Coliseum on campus.

Continuing with University tradition, the winner of the S.E. Kossman Outstanding Faculty Award delivers the Fall Commencement keynote address. The 27th overall recipient of the honor this past May, Sandifer, is set to offer wisdom and advice to the graduating class in her address — “Lessons I Learned from ‘The Blind Side’.” “The Blind Side” is a book written by Michael Lewis and is now a popular movie of the same name.

Sandifer is in her 12th year of teaching accounting at Delta State University. She earned a Master’s in Business Administration degree from University of Mississippi in 1986 and a Bachelor in Science degree from University of Houston-Clear Lake in 1984. She has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Mississippi since 1991.

Sandifer holds professional memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Mississippi Society of Public Accountants (MSCPA), and the Delta Chapter of the MSCPA where she has served as president, vice president and treasurer. She served on the MSCPA Board of Governors for 2000-2001. Sandifer is also a member of the Delta State Accounting Honor Society and the Delta State chapter of Delta Mu Delta, an international honor society in business.

Sandifer is also a partner with the accounting firm Sayle, Sandifer and Associates in Greenville. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville and is married to V.L. Sandifer Jr. and has four children, Trey, Lindsey, Lauren and Abbie.

Delta State is expected to graduate an estimated 365 students during its Fall Commencement. Each graduate will receive ten tickets for family and friends. Tickets are required for entry.
