Applications for the Janice Wyatt Mississippi Summer Arts Institute at the Bologna Performing Arts Center are now being accepted for this year’s annual summer camps. The Mississippi Summer Arts Institute offers exciting, educational and immersive arts opportunities for local children ages 5-18. The goal of MSAI is to encourage young artists to begin or continue their pursuits in the fine and performing arts. Through MSAI, participants are given the opportunity to further develop an established craft, as well as explore new, creative art forms.

The Arts Camp, scheduled for June 8-21, is a two-week residential camp for ages 12-18. Students stay on the Delta State campus, attend classes that cover various art forms with Delta State professors and professional teaching artists during the day and participate in fun activities in the evening. Courses are offered in dance, literary arts, music, theater and visual arts. Arts Camp concludes with a visual arts exhibition and literary arts reading as well as a final performance which demonstrates the talents of the campers. Scholarships are available based on financial need.

Young artists ages 5-12 are invited to attend PLUS Camp from July 14-19. It is a high-energy day camp that focuses on singing, dancing, puppetry, storytelling and prop and set design. A final performance on July 19 showcases the hard work and dedication of the campers.

Applications are available at the Bologna Performing Arts Center or for download online at www.bolognapac.com.  For more information, please call Whitney Cummins, Arts Education Coordinator, at 662-846-4844.
