Former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Horn visited Delta State University on Wednesday, January 9.  He participated in a round-table discussion with representatives from Delta State University, Polk’s Meat Products of Magee, Walmart and the Cleveland community to initiate planning for a fund raising event to benefit the Delta State University Scholarship Initiative. The event was organized by the Delta State Alumni and Foundation.

“Joe Horn’s involvement at Delta State University will help bring greater visibility to our Scholarship Initiative,” said Delta State’s Director of Donor Relations Ann Giger. “We are thankful to Joe and Polk’s Meat Products for partnering with Delta State University.”

Polk’s Meat Products and Walmart are marketing Horn’s new line of barbeque sauce and sausage.  Horn proposed a collaborative effort between the companies and Delta State to help raise funds for the Delta State University Scholarship Initiative.

“Mississippi has been so very good to me and I am proud to have the opportunity to participate in a project  with Delta State University,” said Horn.   “The most important thing to me is that we develop a fun, exciting event that is available to everyone in an effort to raise funds for the Scholarship Initiative.”
