The Delta Center for Culture and Learning recently provided an introduction to the Delta’s cultural heritage to 75 lawyers and other members and friends of the Mississippi Center for Justice.  Participants came from throughout Mississippi and across America.  The Mississippi Center for Justice “provides the legal perspective to policy initiatives that improve the lives of Mississippians,”  especially with regards to health care, racial and economic justice.

Highlights of the tour included a hot tamale tasting at Po’ Monkey’s Lounge, with music provided by Terry “Harmonica” Bean and his Blues band, a panel discussion at the Little Zion MB Church on Money Road, with Gospel music provided by The Heavenly Voice of Money, Mississippi, and a discussion of the Civil Rights Movement lead by Charles McLaurin at the Fannie Lou Hamer Memorial Garden in Ruleville.

The Delta Center is the manager of the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area, a partnership with the National Park Service that promotes the heritage of the Mississippi Delta.
