Jazz and Blues at the Bologna Center

The Bologna Center presents two free concerts this fall, one for school groups and another for the general public. Pictured is GRAMMY and Tony Award winning vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, who will perform next week at the Bologna Center.

The Bologna Performing Arts Center is pleased to share two free jazz and blues performances planned for this fall.

On Sept. 9 at 9:30 a.m., the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz will be at the Bologna Center for a Jazz and Blues Student Performance. Presented by musicians from the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, the assembly will feature legendary vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater, a multiple GRAMMY Award-winning recording artist and Tony Award recipient for her work on Broadway. This concert is free for school groups for grades 7-12, however, reservations must be made by calling (662) 846-4844.

On Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m., The Jazz Ambassadors will come to the Bologna Center. The official touring Big Band of the U.S. Army, the group is based in Washington, D.C. and has received great acclaim both at home and abroad performing America’s original art form, jazz. Concerts by the Jazz Ambassadors are designed to entertain all types of audiences, and their diverse repertoire includes big band swing, standards, popular tunes, Dixieland, vocals and patriotic selections. The event is free and open to the public, and no tickets required.
