Delta State University’s Healthy Campus/Community Initiative in the Clarksdale area is hosting a Heart Healthy 5k, one-mile walk and children’s activities Feb. 28 at the Coahoma County Higher Education Center in Clarksdale, a Delta State satellite campus.
The event is free, open to the public and will be hosted at the CCHEC building at 109 Clark St. in Clarksdale. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on race day, with the race kicking off at 9 a.m.
Participants are urged to wear red.
HCCI originally developed on Delta State’s main campus five years ago in partnership with the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation. Delta State recently announced a $502,000 grant from the foundation for programming expansion in the Clarksdale community.
