Cleveland to Celebrate Earth Day with Community Beautification Projects, Citywide Cleanup, and Hazardous Waste Collection

Cleveland – Keep Cleveland Beautiful, the City of Cleveland, and Delta State University Student Government Association have joined together to celebrate Earth Day by hosting community beautification projects, a citywide litter cleanup and hazardous waste collection on Saturday, April 11th from 9 am- 1 pm.

The community beautification projects will include cleanup, landscaping and/or painting at:

• Eastside Park
• Pearl Street Park
• Recycling drop-off on North Bayou Road
• Cleveland Animal Shelter

For the citywide litter cleanup, citizens and community groups are encouraged to pick up litter in and around Cleveland. Trash bags will be provided to volunteers along with suggestions and assignments for areas in need of attention.

In addition to the litter cleanup and beautification projects, the City of Cleveland will host its annual hazardous material collection from 8 am – 2 pm. Cleveland residents can drop of residential hazardous materials including: paint, electronics, appliances, tires, and more at any of the five drop off locations. These locations include: Public Works, 1098 Old Hwy. 61 North (behind Baxter); Cleveland High School, 300 West Sunflower Road; Eastside High School, 601 Lucy Seaberry Blvd; Western Plaza on Hwy 8 West; and the Medical Mall on Hwy 8 East.
