RiseUp Youth Conference

Purpose of the event- RiseUP Youth Conference hopes to inspire and empower youth (6th grade to 12th grade) in the MS Delta to RiseUP to their education, community, and purpose. The vision of the conference is to encourage youth to RISEUP and explore, develop, and share their given talents for success.

Activities during conference
Performance- MADDRAMA performance from Jackson State University-MADDRAMA strives to promote excellence in the performing arts with an emphasis on people of color. Their goals are to conduct educational workshops, support the cultural enhancement of Jackson State University, as well as the surrounding community, to heighten the awareness of theater as a cultural art form in the community, and produce quality plays which reflect the African American experience.
Speaker- Dr. Kristopher J. Childs, is the CEO of Academic RockStars, LLC. Academic
RockStars is the catalyst of a movement. A movement created to inspire all who are involved in academic endeavors globally — through promotion, support, and recognition to pursue excellence and academic success. Dr. Childs is an Assistant Professor of STEM Education at Texas Tech University within the Global Pragmatic Researchers in STEM Education Program (Global PRiSE) focusing on developing pragmatic STEM education researcher’s and global STEM educators.
Speaker-Timothy Lampkin-Community Development Consultant, Social Entrepreneur, and Philanthropist who will be teaching the youth about Youth Entrepreneurship.
We will also have a Youth Forum which is a panel discussion with experts in the local community serving as panelist- This forum is to empower youth to discuss current issues they are facing and come up with solutions so that they can be empowered to make a change.
The youth will create a vision board
Food/ water will be served

Each child will receive a T-shirt and will be given prizes/rewards.
The cost of the event is $10.00 for child only and $15.00 for parent and child- if parent have more than one child attending the price will be only $20.00 for a parent and two ore more children and or if just two or more children are attending the price will be $15.00. This amount will cover their registration and T-Shirt.
