Cranford Lecture

Started in 1998 to honor the life of Dr. Cranford, a longtime history professor and DSU archivist, the lecture series features outstanding historians. The 2017 Cranford Lecturer will be Dr. Calvin White, Jr., Chair and Associate Professor of History at the University of Arkansas. Dr. White‘s first book is The Rise to Respectability: Race, Religion, and the Church of God in Christ, published in 2012 by the University of Arkansas Press. He is currently working on a biography of Oscar DePriest, a civil rights activist from Chicago and U.S. Representative from 1929 to 1935. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the Jobe Hall Atrium.
